The Coordinator, Zone B, comprising the South East and South-South zones of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), the apex umbrella body of Nigerian students at home and in the diaspora, Comrade Okereke Godson C, popularly called Aluta Bishop has berated the leadership of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), in Imo State for it’s inability to conduct credible, free and fair primary elections, inspite of the enormous support of the people.

The articulate and vibrant student leader said, “the primaries have been conducted, as claimed by the various political parties but we are particularly disappointed about the intrigues, horse trading and clandestine manipulations that trailed the primary elections of APGA. It is unfortunate that a party seen as a beacon of hope that represents the collective interests of Igbos has failed woefully and has become a total disappointment. The leadership of the party has sacrificed honour, dignity, honesty, truth, justice and fairness on the altar of greed, pecuniary interests and benefits at the expense of the wishes, interests, and aspirations of Imolites and Igbos in general”.

“We appreciate and commend the Peoples Democratic Party and the United Progressive Party (UPP), for conducting transparent, credible, free and fair primary elections for all elective positions. Reports available to us, indicate that, the leadership of these two political parties lived above board, exhibited maturity, leadership prowess, administrative ingenuity, and provided level playing grounds for all aspirants that contested primary elections on their platforms”.

He averred that “Nigerian students have taken note of the shenanigms and posturing of the various political parties and their gladiators, and will deliberate extensively and take a stand on the situation in due course, because the youths are most affected by bad governance, aside the suffering, pain and agony unleashed on our parents, brothers, sisters and other relations, by purposeless and insensitive leaders, whose only interests are how to loot our common treasury, forcefully and fraudulently acquire peoples’ properties for their families and children yet unborn. The youths, particularly the students, have resolved to do the needful and take their destinies in their hands, hence, it will no long be business as usual, in 2019”.
