Following the court order reinstating five members of the Imo State House of Assembly who were suspended over rumoured attempt to impeach the principal officers, the House of Assembly has gone to Appeal Court to quash the reinstatement order.

The Assembly leadership in their first reaction, filed a stay of execution of the judgment on Monday November 5, 2018.

In a press briefing at his official residence, the speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Acho Ihim said the house was not satisfied with the said judgment, hence, the appeal.

According to him, “in keeping with the Imo State House of Assembly’s disposition towards the rule of law, we have no better choice in this instance than to appeal against the judgment”.

He enjoined his fellow legislators to remain calm, as appropriate steps have been taken to counter the order.

It could be recalled that five (5) honourable members of Imo State House of Assembly, Dr. Uche Oguwuike, Hon. Donatus Onuigwe, Hon. Nkenna Nzeruo, Hon. Nnataraonye and Hon. Chiji Collins were, last July suspended for unparliamentarily conducts.
