The Chairman of the South East Council of Traditional Rulers and Obi of Obinaugu in Orlu LGA of Imo state, HRM Eze (Dr) Cletus Ilomuanya, has called on the Imo electorate never to sell their votes for peanuts.

The frontline traditional ruler, said this on Saturday January 19th, 2019, at the Orlu Hotels, while addressing members of Orluzurumee, who held their National summit.

The soft spoken monarch explained that, though there is palpable tales of woes of hunger, anger and agony, should the electorate decide to collect money before voting, they should refrain from voting for money, but according to their conscience.

He revealed that the reason politicians take the electorate for a ride, is because, they often believe that they were forced to buy their way to power and the position they occupy, hence, they insist on disconnecting from the people, once elected.

He commended the leadership of Orluzurumee led by Chief Emeka Diwe, for his sterling leadership quality, which he observed has further dignified and positioned the organization as the apex socio-cultural union in the zone. This he tasked Diwe to sustain by engaging positively with Orlu stakeholders, on the fastest way to develop Orlu into modern city that can compete with Owerri.

Eze Ilomuanya added that, what matters most at a time like this, “is the unity of zone”, saying that, “no doubt, Orlu people have made mistakes in the past, but I am happy that there is a time to correct the mistake, if all hands are on deck”. Ilomuanya promised to support Orluzurumee and Orlu Elders’ Council, which membership the monarch also described as doing exceptionally well in promoting the core values of Orlu zone.
