Imo Young Party Candidates Meet In Owerri,Insist On Credible Polls

Young candidates of political parties in Imo state, under the aegis of Conference of Young Imo Political Parties Candidate (COYIPAC), have jointly canvassed and advocated level playground, free, fair and credible elections in Imo state this year.

The new organized political forum arising from a recent meeting held at Rockview Hotel, Owerri, expressed fears and worry over the security of such young political party candidates, as well as that of the entire Imo electorate from where they issued a release signed by Hon Chukwuemeka Nkwocha and Hon Kelechi Uzorma as Secretary and Publicity Secretary,respectively.

The group in view of the prevailing circumstances made a six point resolutions aimed at ensuring public safety and proposed to hold an all purpose general summit, on Sunday, January 20, 2019, ahead of the February 16, presidential elections.

The group frowned at the non-challant attitude of some candidates and their supporters, condemned the spate of destruction of campaign bill boards and other campaign materials across the state and also demanded gor free, fair, and credible elections in the state, where they expressed hope that, with recent paradigm shift in political affairs, the young ones are sure to sweep the polls.

They intend to resist vehemently any attempt to shortchange and rig them out by old politicians, and their cohorts. They resolved to appeal to the security agencies, to guarantee the protection of lives and properties of the people, before, during and after the coming elections with an appeal to all political parties candidates, to bear in mind that they are working together for the peace and interest of Imo as their state.

The young politicians used the opportunity to appeal to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to ensure level playing ground for all candidates, irrespective of whatever party they belong.

The conference made up of Young Politicians under age of 45, included indigenes and non-indigenes of Imo state and are open to all and have slated February 20 for a summit at Milton Hotel,Works layout.
