The Clerk of Imo State House of Assembly, Barr (Chief) Chris Duru, has washed his hands-off the crisis and imbroglio rocking the legislature, with the recent suspension of the Speaker, Rt. Hon Acho Ihim.

Chief Duru also denied the statement credited to him to the effect that he denied that Acho Ihim has been suspended.

This was contained in a release signed by him, “my attention has been drawn to a post on the social media, to the effect that I said, impeachment doesn’t hold outside plenary and that Acho Ihim is still the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly”.

Duru went ahead to describe the statement as a very cheap blackmail from the pit of hell, orchestrated by enemies of progress, who are afraid of his rising profile, adding that as a civil servant, he remains neutral and a political.

He therefore urged the public especially members of the House to discountenance with the social media publication, “as an experienced civil servant, I cannot plunge headlong into a crocodile infested political waters. I am not a politician and as a civil servant, I maintain neutrality.

This mischievous blackmail is the handiwork of those who want me removed as the Clerk. They hatched the plan to rope me into the crisis so that I will be removed as the Clerk. They have made several moves in the past including instigating Members against me and also publishing falsehood against me in the Newspapers. Please disregard this as it did not emanate from me”, he bemoaned.
