The apex youth body of Orlu zone, “Orluzurumee Youth Assembly (OYA)” has berated those presently attacking His Excellency Dr Achike Udenwa, the former two term Governor of Imo State, describing them as mischievous. They further contended that the new found critics have made them willing tools in the hands of over ambitious politicians, who are always penchant for combat against the former Governor and Minister.

Reacting to series of media attacks against the erstwhile Governor, the National Publicity Secretary of Orluzurumee Youth Assembly, Comrade Chibuike Odunze, advised politicians sponsoring these baseless publications against Achike Udenwa, to desist from such devilish activity.

Odunze stated this in Owerri yesterday shortly after the group’s meeting. He wondered why the attacks suddenly became prominent in media, stating that those behind the attacks are catching into a perceived misunderstanding, the two former Governors;Chief Achike Udenwa and his immediate successor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim had to feather their nest with the sole purpose of running the former Governor and leader of Orlu zone down.

He acknowledged that both leaders deserve to be respected and encouraged to continue to contribute their quota in the development of Imo and not to make the misunderstanding a subject for discussion.

The Orluzurumee Youth Assembly Spokesperson also vowed to resist any further attempt to ridicule their leader for political reason. He then advised some Orlu sons who consider Udenwa’s closeness to Rt.Hon Emeka Ihedioha as threat to their ambition to trade with caution. “We can’t run our own down for political benefit. We as a people must learn to follow. We must not all be leaders at the same time.

This does not mean that Udenwa like every other person is perfect but he deserves our respect. That is how to promote our identity before the other climes”, Odunze stated.

It will be recalled that the avalanche of criticisms against former Governor Achike Udenwa, was a consequent of a statement he made, stating that Chief Ikedi Ohakim was a total failure during the period (2007-2011) he was on the saddle as Executive Governor of Imo state.

In his reaction, Ohakim blamed his total failure on his predecessor, who he accused of imposing commissioners, board members and directors generals on him, which appointments he was handicapped in replacing.
