The former President of Orluzurumee cultural union, Barr Ruben Okoro and a Chieftain of Accord party, is currently in a hot soup as it is alleged that he escaped arrest by police officers from zone 9, Umuahia, who were detailed to track him.

The case for which he has been invited by the Police bothers on issuance of dud cheque of Seven Hundred and four thousand Naira N704,000 which the suspect allegedly issued to Longify Mega Concept LTD using Orluzurumee Cultural Union account name on the 10th of October, 2017.

According to report, the Cheque never cleared till this moment. The victim after series of persuasions and entreaties to get paid for supplies done to him in his personal capacity, petitioned the Deputy Inspector General of police, Umuahia, at Zone 9 Area Command.

Our source had revealed that, the police stormed his house at LN Obioha road, Umuna, Orlu on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, with a white hilux vehicle but on sighting the police, the suspect through the back yard of his residence disappeared.

It was also gathered that Chief Okoro subsequently called the Imo State Commissioner of Police, pleading that he be allowed to visit Zone 9,considering his health challenges instead of being bundled to Umuahia, which the CP obliged him.

When contacted, Chief Barr Rueben Okoro denied issuing dud cheque to anyone. He accused some of his detractors of wanting to run him down.

When asked if police were in his place to arrest him, the Atta Njaba born Chieftain of Orluzurumee said it was not an arrest but an invitation to report to zone 9 which he did the following day and is back to his house.

He claimed that the cheque was forged with his name, stating that police are already investigating the matter at Imo State police command.
