The winner of the “2019 Asaigbo beauty pageant”, Miss Sera Ukasoanya, has extolled the developmental strides and unparalled record of achievement of the Vice Chancellor of Imo State University (IMSU) Owerri, Prof. Adaobi Obasi, describing her as a woman of virtue and excellence in selfless service.

Speaking to newsmen at the Lake Nwaebere Campus of Imo State University, Miss Ukasoanya, an alumna of the Institution, recalled with nostalgia how the school was during her time as student. She commended the Vice-Chancellor for living up to expectation and making the Nigerian women proud.

According to her, “over time, the men had always believed that women were of lesser value and incompetent or inferior to man such administrative position, but with what we have seen in IMSU presently, it clearly shows that what we never had is an opportunity. If we had the opportunity, we would excel and make Nigeria a greater Nation”, she averred.

Continuing, she noted among other observations relating to the development strides of IMSU VC, Adaobi Obasi to include; Infrastructure, student-lecturer relationship, qualitative education, and serenity of the environment.

Sera Ukasoanya also acknowledged that inspite of the efforts by the administration in curbing examination malpractices, sorting, and sexual harassment, “there are still bad eggs in the system who are frustrating the good work of the Vice-Chancellor who incidentally is the first female Vice Chancellor of the institution. Though not peculiar to IMSU, we hope that the VC will eventually stamp out such menaces that are prevalent in schools in Nigeria”.

She expressed optimism that the VC, considering her passion to transform the school into the envy of other state owned university, will do more and place IMSU far above other schools in Nigeria in all ramifications.

She used the opportunity to invite the public to her Cancer awareness program slated for 6th of September, 2019, at Ahiajoku cultural centre, Owerri.
