Arising from the recent uncomplimentary, abusive and scathing remarks against the Imo State Governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, by embattled and controversial Senator Anayo Rochas Ethelbert Okorocha, the Imo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has raised an alarm, alerting the Inspector General (IG) of Police and asking for his urgent intervention, in what the party fears could lead to cataclysm in the state.

In a strong worded letter, signed by the state Secretary of PDP, Nze Ray Emeaha, addressed to the Inspector General (IG) of Police, through the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Mr Rabiu Ladodo, dated August 22, 2019, the State Chapter of PDP, said, it was drawing the IG’s attention and that of the general public to “the sinister and despicable plot by Okorocha to set a violent machinery in motion for a carefully choreographed series of gestapo-like and horrendous events that will lead to total breach of peace, breakdown of law and order and to ultimately provide his sponsors with excuses and justification for the declaration of a state of emergency in Imo State”.

The release claimed that the resort to self-help, jungle justice and self destruct by Okorocha stems from fears over the overwhelming evidences and possibilities of his imminent, inevitable and eventual transition from Governor/Senator, to prison.

The party revealed that some former aides of the embattled Orlu Senator, whose purported victory was procured under duress, have volunteered vital information on what transpired.

As if that was not enough, the Imo PDP likened Okorocha as “a drowning man who is desperate to clutch at anything” to stay afloat, intends to destabilize the state, in order to divert attention from his self-inflicted predicament.

The release stated, “Okorocha himself has realized that he has reached the end of the road, following the revelation of his land grabbing, housing, fraudulent contracts, Bailout and Paris Funds, electoral fraud and the disqualification of his son-inlaw by an Abuja court”, having been presented as governorship candidate by both the APC and AA, against the provisions of the electoral act, as amended.

“The strategy is for him to engage in very provocative and vexatious acts aimed at luring Imolites into attacking and possibly lynching him. This will make Imolites incur the wrath of his sponsors and provide reason to interfere in the affairs of Imo and disrupting the trend of development and good governance which the PDP and the Ihedioha administration, have set in motion.

For a man who presided over the criminal looting of the resources of the state and the destruction of it’s values and institutions to brazenly and openly declare war against the legitimate government and people of the state as Okorocha has done in the video that is currently going viral, is to take freedom of expression too far.

We thank Imolites for the restraint they have shown so far in their encounters with Okorocha and implore them to exercise further restraint in their future interactions with him. We assure them that the judiciary and the law enforcement agencies will give them the justice they demand and plead with them to resist the temptation to resort to self-help or yield to temptation.

We call on your office and the security agencies to call Okorocha and his supporters to order, as we may not be able to continue to restrain Imolites who have seen the difference between good and bad governance.

We hope that the security agencies will do the needful to stop Okorocha from further acts of confrontation and provocation against the good people of Imo State as we shall not be held liable for any failure of our efforts to restrain the people from reacting to his deliberate provocation”the release concluded.
