The Member Representing Ikeduru State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Amb Uche Ogbuagu has made it clear that Ikeduru can only develop by the genuine and patrotic efforts of indigenes of Ikeduru. He said no community or country all over the world has ever recorded meaningful development without the active participation of her citizens.
Amb. Uche Ogbuagu made the assertion when the executives of Ikeduru Union in Delta State led by their Chairman Sir Anthony Chukwu paid him a courtesy visit at his home town in Akabo Ikeduru. He stated that governments at all levels can only do little due to the insincerity of people in positions of authority which has also brought about dwindling funds to execute meaningful projects.
Amb. Ogbuagu who is the founder of Ideal Media Broadcasting Network Limited, owners of Myradio Fm, Gold Fm and Real Fm, told the delegation that it is for the desire he has for the development of Ikeduru that made him build two radio stations in Ikeduru. He said the radio stations have attracted unprecedented attention to Ikeduru thereby fulfilling the objectives for their establishments.
The lawmaker informed them that during his electioneering, he sunk 15 boreholes in all the 12 electoral wards in Ikeduru, and that since his inauguration as a state lawmaker, he has been able to use his personal resources to embark on developmental projects across Ikeduru.
Amb. Ogbuagu who is also the chairman Imo House of Assembly Committee on Budget and Appropriation emhasized that Ikeduru has good number of well to do people in the country and in Diaspora that can transform the constituency if they decide to invest in Ikeduru. He said his decision to embark on developmental projects in Ikeduru is not borne out of any political or parochial gain but to kickstart an era of patrotism and responsibility among the people, and to leave lasting legacies on the sands of time.
He assured them that his representation will unite Ikeduru and charged them to think of bringing some of their businesses home as a means of creating employment and reducing youth restiveness. He informed the delegation that the second edition of Ikeduru Festival of Praise across twenty five Communities in Ikeduru, which heralds the annual Ikeduru Alive For Christ Crusade will kick off on January 5, 2020.
In his speech earlier, the leader of the delegation, Sir Anthony Chukwu expressed joy at the transformation and reorientation that is going on in Ikeduru under the representation of Amb. Ogbuagu and stated that his belief in the ideals of Ikeduru has been rekindled.
He told the lawmaker that Ikeduru Union in Delta State has been in existence for the past 38 years and they have used the platform to mobilize Ikeduru indigenes in Asaba Delta State and to engage in mutually beneficial welfare programs. He said the union will use this year’s end of year activities to set up scholarship scheme, assist Ikeduru indigenes in Asaba to start up business, give assistance to widows, among other things.
The chairman promised to attract a recycling plant from Ireland in order to create jobs for the teeming youths of Ikeduru as well as support Amb. Uche Ogbuagu in his vision to transform Ikeduru, especially now that confidence is been restored among the citizens.
