Chairman Promises Free, Fair Election

The Orluzurumee Youth Assembly, the apex youth body in Orlu zone, over the weekend inaugurated its electoral committee to oversee the forthcoming election slated February 22, 2020.

The group had in December 8, 2019, constituted an electoral committee with Comrade Paschal Ihekuna as chairman while Comrade Uche Esemonu is the Secretary. Other members are; Chief Obinna Agbodike, Miss Amaka Amajuoyi and Isinwa Destiny

Inaugurating the committee, the National President, Engr. Christian Okolie charged the committee to ensure a level playground for all members. He revealed that the reason some members who have interest to contest the election were asked to resign is to avoid compromising the process.

Engr. Okolie congratulated the Committee and expressed confidence in the Chairman who he described as a man of his word. He promised to field the electoral committee information regarding those the organization has granted waiver to contest, adding that the decision to grant waiver to new members is to ensure that no Local government is shortchanged.

In his acceptance speech on behalf of the electoral committee, the Chairman, Comrade Ihekuna assured that his committee will stop at nothing towards ensuring the most credible election. He averred that his experience as an administrator will go a long way in achieving the task before him.

He pleaded with the aspirants to play by the rules while assuring that in no distant time, the committee will roll out the drums.

Meanwhile, Orluzurumee Youth Assembly will on the January 5, 2019 commission its National secretariat at Orlu. The event will also feature the decoration of their Chief patron and the unveiling of their amended constitution.

According to a release, signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Chibuike Odunze, Chief Ford Ozurumba will be the chairman of the occasion while Hon Mayor Eze, Special Adviser to the governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs will be the guest speaker.

The special guests of honour are; His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Engr. Gerald Irona, Deputy governor of Imo State who is from Orlu zone; Prof Francis Dike (SAN), Chairman of Orlu Elders’ Council.

The guests of honour are members of National and State Assembly and Patrons of the Assembly while HRM Eze (Dr) Cletus Ilomuanya, HRM Eze (Dr) Emmanuel Okeke and HRM Eze (Prof) Peter Ebigbo are Royal Fathers of the day.
