In the wake of recent reported  gory cases of wives physically stabbing, assaulting and killing their husbands or pouring hot water and acidic substances on them for alleged infidelity, a consultant physician attached to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Owerri is now lying critically ill at the hospital where he is lucky to be nursing serious wounds and injuries sustained in the hands of thugs/assassins suspected to be hired by his two year old wife who viciously attacked him at the premises of the Cathederal of Transfiguration of Our Lord (CATOL) Owerri, where he had gone to lodge some sacerdotal compliant to the Bishop of Anglican Communion, Owerri Diocese.

The victim, Dr Chinedu Okonkwo, who hails from Ukwa East in Abia State, has been married to his young wife, a practicing nurse with an unnamed private hospital in Owerri, who hails from Ehime Mbano local government area of Imo State. Her name was not immediately disclosed to the press.

Sources close to the family revealed that since the marriage was consummated in 2018, it has not been rosy with the couple and the doctor has been making effort to fix his wife at the Federal Medical Centre Owerri, where he works to enable them make both ends meets.

A few days ago perturbed by the incessant fracas in their union, the physician had gone to the Anglican Cathedral to report to the officiating priest, who wedded them barely two years ago and upon his emergence from the pastors chancery, he was attacked by some hoodlums who inflicted severe injuries and badly harms him in the presence of his wife who was allegedly spotted at the scene.

The victim was rescued by some good Samaritans who came to his aid and took him to the hospital where he works currently receiving treatment for his wounds.

This incident is coming fast on the heels of similar reports of bullying, stabbing, killing, poisoning and pouring dangerous chemicals on their supposed husbands and lovers. The situation which reached its peak at the recently celebrated valentine (lovers day) is getting out of hand.

When contacted,a Priest at the CATOL who doesn’t want his name in print said that the victim had not entered the church premises when he was attacked.
