The Principal, Mrs. Veronica Oduokite, staff and pupils of Isiokwu primary school, Umuna in Orlu LGA of Imo state last Friday 2nd March, 2018, held their maiden inter house sports competition.

The event which held at Isiokwu primary school play ground was attended by HRH Eze (Sir) John Nwosu, Ugoeze J.O Nwosu, the Education Secretary of Orlu LGA, Mrs. Ochieze Philomena, parents and other invited guests who supported the children immensely in their inter house sports competition.

Speaking at the occasion, the Special Guest of Honour HRH, Eze John Nwosu who contributed immensely in the establishment and the welfare of the school said that exposing children to sporting activities and proper guidance will enhance their learning abilities and also enhance their thinking ability, because a healthy body is a healthy mind.

According to him, “sports we all know, have come to be valued not just for its entertainment and improvement of physical well being, but also for the exposure it gives and enormous wealth it brings”.

He urged the teachers to strive hard to help pupils imbibe sports as part of their extra curriculum activities that will impact them with quality life by inculcating appropriate skills, values, hard work, confidence and inter relationship, in their pupils.

The Education Secretary of Orlu, Mrs. Ochieze Philomina, in her speech at the occasion described inter house sports competition as an important component of any serious academic and intellectual vocation.

The pupils were observed to have put in their best and exhibited the great talents endowed in them. Prizes and trophies were awarded to the best performing students and their various houses.
