A new organization under the aegis of “Imo Youths Coalition for Good Governance (YCAGG), led by Comrade Eric Chijioke Nwachukwu, has vowed to stop Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha’s effort to perpetuate himself in office beyond 2019.

The group which stated this over the weekend in Owerri x-rayed the activities of Owelle Rochas Okorocha and argued that the Rescue Mission Administration has performed woefully since its inception.

Comrade Eric while speaking to press men on the outcome of their general meeting stated the resolve of the coalition to stop Okorocha’s third term bid which he described as dead on arrival. He added that his coalition which is made up of different youth and religious organizations, is prepared to stop Okorocha from perpetuating himself in office by all means.

To achieve this, the organization intends to embark on the sensitization tours of LGAs, with the objective of mobilizing the youths against such plan. “Nobody should be deceived by the mere facts that Okorocha said he wants a youth to take over from him”, stressing that should a youth be desired, it should not be a son-inlaw or close relation to Okorocha or any member of his family who are part of the pervading autocratic rule which for almost seven years has subjected Imolites to the worst forms of fascism and anti-democratic tendencies, deceits and inclinations to playing to the gallery.

When asked if his group will endorse any governorship candidate ahead of 2019 elections, he answered in the affirmative but added that such candidate will never have any afirmity or filial relationship with Okorocha but someone who has shown capacity to liberate Imolites from the jugulars and hostage taking of Owelle Rochas Okorocha. Comrade Nwachukwu argued that doing so will depend on those who have shown seriousness and commitment to improving the welfare of Imo citizens but that it will depend on the outcome of wide and extensive consultation of Imo youth leaders who are stakeholders in the scheme of things affecting their lives.
