A pioneer Social/Recreation Club based in Ideato South LGA, kinsmen of Governor Okorocha under the auspices of “Umuma Ebenmano Social Club of Nigeria” has sent an open letter to the outgoing Governor of Imo State, Chief Rochas Okorocha threatening to re-possess their parcel of land and club house forcefully acquired by the governor as part of his Rochas Foundation College- Ogboka.

In an open letter sent to the governor signed by twelve elite members led by a prominent legal luminary and president of the club, Hon. Barrister Mbakwe Obi and Secretary Nze Dr. Jude Mbanuzuo, they reminded Okorocha that he acquired their property without due compensation hence the plan to reclaim their farm site, and club house.

In the open letter to Okorocha, they recounted how the governor had applied to be admitted as a member of the club and how they had assisted him morally and financially in his past political venture which helped him attend the National Constitutional Conference as well as his victory at the polls to become governor of Imo in 2011.

They claimed that they were surprised and shocked to the marrows that during his first tenure as governor, Chief Okorocha destroyed the club hall without reference to the members and destroyed some of their properties including documents, executive padded chairs, plastic chairs and plates.

Earlier attempts to react violently or legally by the members were restrained by traditional rulers who prevailed on them to exercise restraint and a promise last year by the governor to provide a new site and structure for them which promise has not been effected till date.

They stated that by the action meted out to them, the governor had given an indication that they are no longer brothers as he prefers lands than any other thing, and ever willing to dispense with his kinsmen and club mates for materials acquisitions and primitive accumulation of wealth.
