-Reiterates Call For Nnamdi Kalu’s Release
The House of Repredentatives Member for Ideato North and South Federal Constituency, Barr. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere has asked the National Working Committee (NWC) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to expel the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike and the National Secretary of PDP, Samuel Anyanwu from the party.
He stated this on Friday 25th of April, 2025 during a press conference in Akokwa, Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State.
Ugochinyere noted with disappointment that PDP is being hunted by supposed members who have benefitted immensely from the party, adding that the party is sinking very fast and if nothing is done, all members of the party will defect, leading to a total collapse of PDP in Nigeria.
The Lawmaker alerted party members of the perfected plans of the chairman of the party, Umar Damagum and secretary of the party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu to be reelected against constitutional norms.
He revealed that forty elected lawmakers and two governors of the party have resolved to leave the party if nothing is done to address the problems.
He therefore demands the unconditional expulsion of Samuel Anyanwu and Nyesom Wike by the NWC, expressing hope that it will be a fundamental step towards rebuilding the party. He urged the NWC to swing into action immediately, adding that expelling the duo will be turbulent but worth doing.
“The NWC must immediately rise up and summon an emergency meeting of the party with the simple majority which they already have with or without Damagum to expel Anyanwu who is a political traitor from the party and also rectify the removal of Damagum by appointing a North Central person as the substantive National Chairman of our party.”
Ugochinyere disclosed that he uncovered that the enemies of the party have filed a case against some NWC members who are standing for the truth, and are making frantic efforts to declare the seat of pro Fubara lawmakers vacant and have also filed an application against him to declare his seat vacant for speaking out against the damages they have done.
Ugochinyere however, stated that he will keep fighting until the party’s NEC meeting scheduled to hold next month but if the tractors succeed in perfecting their plans, he may reconsider his membership of the party.
Furthermore, Ugochinyere appealed for quick Federal intervention on Urualla, Obodoukwu, Amanator/Umueshi gully erosion sites and noted with despair, the damages done by the erosion crisis, adding that the erosion sites in Urualla are threats to the St. Jude’s Catholic church, the palace of the king and other federal infrastructures there.
He also used the opportunity to thank Imo state government for her commitment so far in resolving the Umuchima gully erosion problem.
