Safari Club, Owerri, has elected a new executive committee to pilot the affairs of the club for the 2025/2026 club year, with Chief Damian Okpara emerging as President.
The election, which took place at the club’s headquarters, also produced Dr. Chimezie Amanze as Vice President, Dr. John Ukagwu as General Secretary, and Dr. Chima Orji Awum as Maintenance Secretary.
Safari Club is a distinguished institution with a strong identity as a sports club, while also promoting social engagement and intellectual enrichment. Over the years, it has evolved into one of the leading recreational and thought-leadership platforms in Owerri, drawing accomplished professionals and civic leaders from across Imo State and beyond.
Chief Okpara, a seasoned administrator and long-serving club member, is widely regarded for his integrity, discipline, and commitment to excellence. His emergence as President is seen by many as a turning point for the club.
Under his leadership, the new executive is expected to focus on revitalizing the club’s sporting culture through the upgrade of existing facilities and the reintroduction of competitive tournaments. The new Vice President, Dr. Amanze, is an experienced professional with a track record of leadership within the club.
