– Accuses Absentee Staff Of Sponsoring Media Reports Against School
– Rector’s Performance, Exceptional-ECEAF
A human rights advocacy group, Everychild Educational Advancement Foundation,ECEAF said it has unveiled a calculated plot to blackmail and tarnish the image of the Rector, Imo State Polytechnic, Omuma, Prof Kanayo S Chukwuka by those who are not comfortable with his transformation agenda and zero tolerance for truancy, indolence and absenteeism.
The group’s Director of Programme and Research, Comrade Gideon Nnadi, while addressing newsmen in Owerri the state capital yesterday said, “our investigation has revealed that some of those who feel injured or destabilized by the current Rector’s policies that have, among other issues, put a stop to previous method of being absent from duty and yet, receive salary at the month.
‘The Rector on assumption of duty stopped all that and blocked all other loopholes through which the cabal that held the polytechnic hostage also milked it dry. Hence their anger, frustration and undue aggression.
“Our discreet investigation has revealed that some of those who feel injured by the current Rector’s policies that have transformed and repositioned the institution have resorted to cheap blackmail and fabrication of baseless mischievous stories”.
Reacting to a report in some of the Imo based newspapers, Comrade Nnadi, said, “we expected this group of disgruntled elements to accuse the Rector of embezzlement of funds, sexual harassment or involvement in any serious scandal. But surprisingly the only “crime” the Rector committed in their warped reasoning is that he wore a pair of sandals to their recent matriculation ceremony because of the minor injury he sustained on his leg because of their warped thinking and to desperate desire to score cheap points, they circulated innocent pictures of the Rector wearing a pair of sandals to the matriculation ceremony on social media”. This, the group said, has exposed the culprits and their desperation.
“As a group that is passionately committed to the advancement of education, we know that Rector of Imo State Polytechnic, Prof Kanayo Stephen Chukwuka, is a man of impeccable character and unblemished track record whose wealth of experience and result-oriented approach has transformed and repositioned the institution.
“In a time when integrity and excellence are often in short supply within the Nigerian education system, Professor Kanayo Stephen Chukwuka stands as a towering example of what true academic and administrative leadership should embody. As the current Rector of Imo State Polytechnic, Omuma, Professor Chukwuka has proven, beyond dispute, that greatness is not a matter of position but of consistent and principled action.
“A renowned scientist of international repute, Professor Chukwuka’s scholarly footprint extends well beyond the borders of Nigeria. His contributions to global scientific discourse have earned him recognition as a global scientist of outstanding standing, enriching both academia and practical knowledge in his field. Through his numerous research works and scholarly collaborations, he has brought honor not only to Imo State Polytechnic but also to the Nigerian academic community at large.
“But Professor Chukwuka is more than a scientist—he is an astute educational administrator whose leadership style reflects both depth and foresight. Since assuming the role of Rector, he has led with clarity of purpose and an unwavering commitment to the institutional growth of the Polytechnic. He is a great academic disciplinarian, ensuring that academic standards are upheld without compromise. His approach is anchored in fairness, structure, and a vision for excellence, thereby restoring and reinforcing discipline across the academic environment.
“We will, in no distant time expose those behind the plot to blackmail Prof Chukwka, including a former Head of the institution”.
