In a major political win for Ideato nation, two of its indigenes have secured top positions in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the intervention of member representing Ideato Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives and state leader of the party, Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere.
Hon. Rufus Omeire, a former federal lawmaker from Ideato South, has been ratified as the South-East representative on the PDP’s Board of Trustees (BoT), while Mrs. Arodiogbu from Arondizuogu, Ideato North, has been confirmed as the new Zonal Woman Leader.
These appointments came after a failed attempt to antagonize them by the sacked former National Secretary of the party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, who had sought to impose his loyalists in both positions.
Ikenga, with the backing of PDP leaders and governors, successfully torpedoed Anyanwu’s sinister plot, further emphasising the dwindling fortunes of Anyanwu, the Nyesom Wike loyalist in the PDP leadership.
Ikenga’s latest triumph underscores his growing dominance in Imo PDP, as he now sets his sights on formalizing the state leadership structure by ensuring the recognition of Chief Chris Odoemena as State Chairman and Chief Sylvester Durukweaku as Secretary.
With Ideato now holding strategic positions in the party, political observers say Ikenga has not only consolidated his influence but also repositioned the PDP for future electoral battles in Imo State.
