– Says, State Formerly Received #5b Monthly
-Put The Money To Use, Imolites React
Despite the worrisome stagnation and the dilapidated state of infrastructure, the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma has stirred the honest’s nest by publicly saying that Imo State now receives nothing less than #12 billion as monthly allocation under the Bola Tinubu administration, as against the #5 billion it received monthly under the previous administration.
Gov Uzodinma stated this on a national television while justifying the removal of fuel subsidy by the current administration, and the positive effect it has had on the economy.
He described the removal of fuel subsidy as a bold, courageous and wise decision that has contributed immensely to the development of the state in all facets.
Responding to Uzodinma’s comment, some Imolites, said the amount he claimed to have received has not impacted on the state in any meaningful way, adding that if the money had been judiciously disbursed and channeled towards developmental projects, Imo would not have been in such a deplorable condition.
Some of those who commented on the issue, including Mazi Chinonso Uba popularly called Nonso Nkwa, wondered what the governor did with such a humongous amount because there is nothing on to show such amount that he claimed to have received over the years.
In the same vein, when asked for reaction to the viral report, one Obumneke Nwachukwu wondered how all the billions the Governor mentioned have so far contributed to the welfare of Imo people who are still grappling with hunger, lack and deprivation of basic social amenities.
They berated the Governor for performing below standard despite the huge amount he has received cumulatively from the federal government as monthly and other allocations since he assumed office over five years ago.
