–         Says; He’s More Concerned About Who Will Sustain Achievements, Not Zone

–         As Ajumbe Gives Reasons For Supporting Okigwe Zone

Governor Hope Uzodinma’s recent statement that he is more concerned about who will sustain his legacies, not the zone the person comes from is said to have demoralized and put Owerri zone in disarray.

It was gathered that leaders of Owerri zone under the auspices of Imo Harmony Project led by Captain Emmanuel Iheancho had visited the Governor over his choice of a successor as 2027 approaches. After the meeting the Owerri zone leaders started speculating that the Governor has agreed to hand over the baton to Owerri zone. “They even went as far as appreciating the Governor for purportedly ceeding the ticket to Owerri zone. But the governor’s recent statement has put them in disarray.”

One of the governorship aspirants from Owerri zone who expressed disappointment over the development said, “that is why some of us are yet to publicly declare over interest to contest. Now that it has become obvious that Uzodinma is not being sincere with Owerri zone, it is left for us to decide our fate rather than waiting endlessly.

“My regret is that before I decided to support him during the 2019 campaign, he promised that he will handover to Owerri zone after his tenure. I am surprised that he is now singing a different tune.”

“This development has fuelled speculations that the governor may handover to an Orlu man despite their almost 24 years on the saddle.

“Tha is why some aspirants from Orlu zone, including Charles Orie and Senator Osita Izunaso are already exhibiting suspicious body languages. But it will be very unfair for Uzodinma to abandon the Charter of Equity that he has hyped for a very long time and do oterwise”

Reacting to the development a prominent politician and a former Commissioner in the State Prof Orikeze Ajumbe, who hails from Owerri zone said, if the Charter of Equity must be followed, the, Governor Uzodinma should hand over to Okigwe zone to complete what they lost when Owerri zone and the church truncated Chief Ikedi Ohakim’s second term bid. second term bid with lies and unfounded propaganda. He also advised the people of Owerri zone to put their house in order and reach an agreement with Okigwe zone if they really desire the governorship position, pointing out that anything short of this is a mirage.

Ajumbe buttressed his point with an analogy thus, “If you are travelling to Owerri from Okigwe and your car develops a fault along the road. Will you abandon it there and mover on? The answer is No. You will go back to the point where the vehicle got spoilt, repair it and continue your journey. That is why for the Charter of Equity to continue unhindered, the governorship slot  has to go back to Okigwe zone where it was truncated. That is equity in practice.”
