In  what could best be described as clear and absolute demonstration of leadership capacity and ability, Hon Chukwuma Anuforo, Imo State Government Liason Officer, GLO, for Obiangwu/ Ezemba Ward 10, Ngor Okpala Local Government Area, fulfilled his promise not to allow angry protesters from Obiangwu community, besiege Umuneke, Ngor Okpala LGA headquarters,in protest against the chairperson of the LGA, Mrs Chika Ibekwe, and Leader of Ngor Okpala Legislative Council, Hon Chibuike Agbugba.

Consequently, he has continued to receive praises and commendation for being a leader whose word is his bond.

Indigenes of the community which is one of the two communities that make up Obiangwu/Ezemba Ward 10,Ngor Okpala LGA, which he represents as GLO had planned to storm the secretariat in protest against the alleged imposition of town union caretaker committee on Obiangwu Autonomous Community, and alleged inflammatory allegation peddled with Gov Hope Uzodimma’s name by Hon Agbugba.

Recall that the chairperson in cahoots with Hon Agbugba and his political godfather, Dr Perry Njoku, had recently Imposed a town union caretaker committee they selected in a hotel on the community, while the leader in a desperate attempt to secure the support of some critical stakeholders in the community for alleged illegality of imposing handpicked exco on the community, had told someone in a telephone conversation, that Gov Uzodimma had already ceded 2027 Owerri Zone Senate ticket to Prince Alex Mbata, meaning that the reported interest of Ngor Okpala LGA to contest Senate in 2027 would end in futility.

Convinced that that alleged assault was targeted at their son, Dr Chijioke Kaduru who reportedly is eyeing Owerri Senate Seat, coupled with the simmering anger of the alleged executive imposition, the community had resolved to take to  the streets, on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, to vent their anger on the duo of Hon Ibekwe and Agbugba.

But, as they were about to hit the council the council chairperson got wind of the planned mass action and raised alarm, which attracted the attention of security heads in the state, including Imo State Police Commissioner CP Danjuma Aboki.

On receipt of that information the CP Aboki had immediately reached out to Hon Anuforo, urging him to prevail on his community to shelve the planned Umuneke protest, and without thinking twice in view of the high respect he has for the Police Commissioner, Hon Anuforo gave his word that the protest would not take place there.

Immediately, he switched on his leadership skills and capacity and leveraged all tools and strategies he could muster to prevail on his community not to protest in Umuneke.

One of the stakeholders who planned the protest told this reporter that nobody else except Hon Anuforo could have persuaded them at that eleventh hour to suspend the protest, adding that he was able to do that because he’s highly respected and loved by the community.

He went on to call on security agencies, especially CP Aboki to try and call Hon Ibekwe and her cohorts to order, and tell them to hands off the affairs of the community.

According to him, her meddling in the community’s affairs gone beyond acceptable limits, and if she doesn’t retrace her steps the community maybe forced to react her again in the future. He listed her infractions in the community to include, grabbing of revenues from their Eke Obiangwu market, previous attempts to sack President General of Ezemba Autonomous Community, and Youth Leader of Obiangwu Autonomous Community.

He insisted that she has seriously abused her  office, and needs to be called to order,as well as cautioned against her lack of respect and regard for leaders of party in Ngor Okpala.

When reached for comments, Hon Anuforo thanked his community for listening to him, even as he praised their dogged struggle for justice and fairness. He also praised the DPO Umuneke,  Area Commander Uvuru, OC DSS Ngor Okpala, and CP Danjuma for their efforts in securing the lives and property of citizens the airport community,Ngor Okpala and Imo State.

He noted that the petition of the community is now before Governor Uzodinma Speaker of Imo Assembly,Hon Mrs Ruby Emele, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.  He called on them, especially the Assembly and Ngor Okpala Legislative Council to investigate the matter and also the activities and actions of Hon Ibekwe and Hon Agbugba and do the needful, possibly suspend both of them, for continuing to bring bad name for the governor and his government.

He stressed that there are lot of evidence available to prove what he’s saying and expressed readiness to come forward with them if called upon by the various offices to do so.
