– Calls For Governor’s Intervention
Hon Obed Ajuonuma, a young investor whose property was recently demolished by operatives of the Owerri Capital Development Authority OCDA has accused the General Manager of OCDA, Hon Frank Nkem Nzewodo of conniving with some desperate land speculators to intimidate, arm twist and rob him of his over #200m investment and sell to a top politician in Imo with the false claim that the property was built on a green verge contrary to the state government’s directive.
Ajuonuma, while speaking to this reporter also posited that the claim by the OCDA that he built the house without approval is false and diversionary adding that he judiciously acquired the property and secured the necessary approvals. Hence, there was never a time the issue of approval arose.
He said he heard from grapevine sources that the General Manager of OCDA is working hand in glove with some land speculators to take over his property and sell it to another person. He showed documentary evidence to back up his possession claim.“
According to him, “if you visit the area where my property was demolished, you will see that it is the only property that was demolished in the vicinity, while others around were spared”.
He recalled how he visited the General Manager OCDA in his office, where he told him that the property in question was built on a green verge contrary to the state government’s directive but if he could make available a certain amount of money for the regularization of documents, his property would be spared. He claimed to have paid part of the money and left. But to his greatest surprise, the property was demolished shortly after his visit to the General Manager.
The embattled Ajuonuma, also alleged that the OCDA General Manager is conniving with the Imo Waste Management Agency to come and evacuate the debris of his demolished property in a bid to erase traces of the demolition and give the impression that nothing happened.
“I am calling on our dear Governor to kindly intervene in this saga. I did not commit a sin by coming to invest in Imo State. I could have gone to another place to invest but I decided to heed Governor Uzodinma’s call that there are enabling environments for investors in the State”.
