The Orluzurumee, the apex socio-cultural organization of the Orlu Zone, comprising the 12 local government areas in the region, has officially inaugurated its new Executive Committee (EXCO), signaling a new era of unity, leadership, and progress.

The ceremony, held at Owerri, was attended by prominent stakeholders, traditional leaders, political figures, and community members, all gathered to witness the peaceful transition and swearing-in of new officers.

The newly inaugurated officers include: Hon. Ugochukwu Nzekwe – President-General, Prof. Protus Uzoma – Vice President, Dr. Desmond O Echeta – General Secretary, Hon. Maxwell Odunze – Financial Secretary, Mrs. Rosemoon Nzeribe – Treasurer, Mr. Kelechi Duru – Organizing Secretary, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Obiefule – Woman Leader, Mr. Nnamdi Cos-Ukwuoma – Publicity Secretary, Chief Emmanuel Egbujuo – Internal Auditor, Dr. Chris Chukwuemeka Ekwueme – Assistant Secretary, Engr. Chidozie Orujuba – Assistant Publicity Secretary, Comrade Chinedu Asife – Provost.

In his opening remarks, Prof. F.C. Dike (SAN), Chairman of the Orlu Elders Council, lauded the milestone, describing it as a moment of rebirth for Orluzurumee. “We have built a more united, new-look organization with vibrant leadership ready to move us forward,” he said.

He commended the Elders Council for harmonizing divergent interests and consolidating unity within the organization.

The Chairman of the Harmonization Committee, Prof. U. A. Awuzie, also spoke glowingly of the efforts behind the scenes, noting that seasoned elders such as Prof. I.C. Okonkwo and Nze Greenbank Iheka played pivotal roles in reconciling previously divided factions led by Chief Chime Nzeribe and Chief Emeka Diwe. Their reconciliatory efforts paved the way for the credible elections, with Prof. I.C. Okonkwo serving as the Returning Officer.

Both Chief Nzeribe and Chief Diwe addressed the assembly, pledging full support for the newly elected executives and emphasizing their shared commitment to the organization’s progress.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Ugochukwu Nzekwe, the new President-General, thanked the Elders Council and the General Assembly for the confidence reposed in the new leadership. He reaffirmed the EXCO’s dedication to the objectives of Orluzurumee.

“We are honored to lead this esteemed organization and pledge to work tirelessly to uphold its values and drive meaningful development,” Nzekwe stated.

The event concluded with a reception where guests interacted, congratulated the new leadership, and reiterated their commitment to the continued growth and relevance of Orluzurumee in the socio-political affairs of Orlu Zone and beyond.
