–        As Arondizuogu Residents Lament Frightening Insecurity, Organ Harvesting

–          Seek Uzodinma’s Intervention

The frightening insecurity pervading the entire state, seems to have taken a more disturbing dimension as residents of Arondizuogu, in Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State are presently living in fear and uncertainty following the complete take over of late singer Onyeka Onwenu’s home by dare devil gunmen.

Information gathered from community sources indicate that the late music icon’s once palatial residence has become the operational base of the notorious gunmen who engage in all kinds of despicable criminal activities including organ harvesting, rape, kidnapping, among others.

Responding to a question, the source said, “there are always mutilated corpses on the road from Okigwe to Arondizuogu. You will also recall that some time in January 2023, Hon Chris Ohizu, who was then the Transition Committee Chairman of Ideato North LGA, was kidnapped and slaughtered like a goat, as shown in a viral video after the perpetrators allegedly collected six million Naira ransom. He was reportedly whisked away alongside two other people namely, Hon Christopher Okereke, who retired from the Federal Ministry of Statistics and Mr Onyekachi Kanu, who was then the Chairman of the APC in Ndimoko Ward. Out of the three,m two were killed and their bodies dismembered while one person miraculously returned alive.”

According to him, the situation has deteriorated to the extent that the gunmen now parade openly with their motorcycles, engage in settling communal disputes, collect tolls, impose fines and levies on the people according to their discretion.

“Because of their audacity and the authority they exude,  residents of the affected communities where they exercise control including Umulolo, Okigwe in Okigwe LGA, Ndimoko, Arondizuogu, Ndi Aniche, Ndi Akaemo, all in Ideato North LGA and adjoining communities now report cases to them and also use them to settle disputes that should under normal circumstances be reported to law enforcement agents to settle”

They called on the Governor of Imo State Senator Hope Uzodinma to intervene and save them from the menace that has wreaked havoc on the people and truncated internal cohesion.
