Sequel to a letter dated March 12 2025, and addressed to the Senate, Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Senate Committee on Sports Development has thrown its weight behind the Samuel Okwaraji, Annual Secondary School Soccer championship.
The red chamber of the national assembly, in a letter signed by the Clerk, Okenla Oluwagbemiga said, “ The Senate Committee is pleased to inform you of its endorsement and collaboration on this laudable tournament with your organization on your intent to stage the Maiden Edition of the Samuel Okwaraji U-16 All Nigeria Annual Secondary Schools Soccer Championship/Games”, which is a laudable initiative conceived by the Samuel Okwaraji Foundation to keep the memory and the legacy of the late Hero of Nigerian Football alive.
“This endorsement is in recognition of the purpose and objectives stated in your request and the overall intendment of a legacy to immortalize our Sports Ambassadors (SA) whom had won laurels for our Nation but took a bow in active service.
“The Committee recognize the importance of using this tournament and appreciate your foundation’s desire to contribute to the growth and development of Nigerian youths to foster unity, empower and gainfully engage the younger ones early enough;
“Nonetheless, it is hoped that you will solicit the support and cooperation of the statutory governing bodies, seek Corporate Sponsorship and the support of various other important stakeholders to ensure a smooth and successful execution of this commendable initiative.
“Whilst, wishing your organization good fortunes in the preparations and execution of this novel and noble event, accept please the assurances of the Chairman and Members highest sporting esteem”.
