-Appeals To Governor

The people of Umuojisi Autonomous Community, Ideato South LGA, have raised  alarm over what they described as a calculated attempt to impose a “ruthless dictator” on them through deception, conspiracy, and abuse of due process.

Tension erupted when Mr. Chinedu Uzoukwu, a self-styled traditional ruler, allegedly harassed and intimidated the Women Wing of the Umuojisi Development Union in their bid to hold the annual August Meeting, an event already sanctioned by the Wife of the State Governor. His brazen actions, according to the community, are clear signs of desperation to establish control through illegitimacy.

At the heart of the crisis is the controversial recognition given to Mr. Uzoukwu as the Eze of Umuojisi, which the people insist was obtained by misleading the State Governor in collaboration with certain officials of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs as well as the Ideato South Local Government administration. The community points out that these institutions deliberately withheld critical facts, including the pending appeal over a declaratory judgment that merely affirmed the status of Okwaraejesu as a premier village, not  ezeship stool. They stressed that a declaratory judgment is not enforceable on its own but serves only as a guide for subsequent actions or processes.

In light of these irregularities and the threat to peace, order, and tradition in Umuojisi, the community has resorted to a substituted medium of publication to expose the injustice and present the necessary documents already served with acknowledgment of receipt. They are therefore appealing to the State Governor to urgently withdraw the recognition of Mr. Uzoukwu as their Eze, citing his concealment of vital information and his failure to meet both the cultural and constitutional principles that define the Ezeship of their autonomous community, which they submitted that is not in dispute and was not part of the matter treated at the lower court.
