Following the revelation that none of the Local Government Councils in Imo State receives a monthly allocation of #350 million from the federal government without anything on ground to show for it, Imolites have expressed surprise, wondering what actually is the problem and what all the funds were used for.
For instance the figure released by the Federal Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) for June 2025, are as follows, “Aboh Mbaise N476,096,253.19, Ahiazu Mbaise N450,831,673.13, Ehime Mbano N413,804,390.66, Ezinihitte N443,612,834.37, Ideato North N453,165,340.27, Ideato South N454,627,178.23, Ihitte Uboma N412,534,983.51, Ikeduru N438,544,143.00, Isiala Mbano N488,911,476.02, Isu N445,662,393.20, Mbaitoli N529,087,916.07, Ngor Okpala N452,177,130.90, Njaba N425,107,660.94, Nkwerre 366,328,426.47, Nwangele N320,498,804.19, Obowo N399,796,243.63, Oguta N442,378,498.29, Ohaji Egbema N479,915,255.01, Okigwe N426,401,479.28, Onuimo N387,780,227.24, Orlu N427,787,520.44, Orsu N410,569,381.76, Oru East N319,909,677.45, Oru West N409,323,524.06, Owerri Municipal N416,194,113.55, Owerri North N453,623,229.08, Owerri West N392,462,057.62”.
Some concerned Imolites who commented on the development also wondered why the government has not said anything since the figures were released and the opinions the figures elicited from Imo people across political divides.
According to them, “it is worrisome that the state government and its handlers have not reacted to the several reports in different media platforms despite the specific figures of amounts that accrued to Imo people through their various Local government councils. Yet there is no single developmental project in any local government area in the state. The question is, where are all these funds and where were they channeled to?
“It is unfortunate that Imo people are suffering and hallowing in lack, hunger and in the midst of plenty. The humongous amounts received monthly, if properly and prudently deployed can turn around the 27 local build factories that will create employment for our teeming youths and address insecurity that is directly or indirectly linked to idleness and youth restiveness”.
