The President of Orlu community youths, Chijioke Odogwu, has alleged that there have been series of threats on his life since he joined other landlords and patriotic citizens to challenge the fraudulent and forceful acquisition of the large expanse of land that they willingly gave to the state government by the Catholic Church.

He alleged that he has been receiving anonymous calls by some persons telling him to withdraw from the suit or face unpleasant consequences.

Odogwu, who disclosed this while commenting on the subject matter, said, as the Youth President of Orlu community, he is a law abiding citizen, just like other landlords affected by the intended forceful acquisition of the former TESAC premises.

“We went to court to seek redress because we don’t want to take laws into our hands by resorting to violence or jungle justice. We requested the court to stop the perpetrators from ceding our ancestral lands that we willingly gave to the government for development to the Catholic Church. How does that warrant or justify such severe threats on my life by some known and unknown persons? The agitation had been on, I only used my position to calm frayed nerves while we seek legal redress, which, we as law abiding citizens believe is the only permissible option available to us.

“I am therefore using this opportunity to advise those behind the senseless threats to desist forthwith because it is an ill-wind that will blow no one good. Besides, I am yet to know when and how seeking redress in a court of competent jurisdiction became an offence that warrants threat to life”.
