The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) has given political parties and other critical stakeholders mandatory 360 days notice ahead of the 2026 Local Government elections in the state.

Chairman of the commission, Chief Charles Ejiogu, in an official statement dated September 18, 2025 which he personally signed said, “ Pursuant to Section 28(1) of the Electoral Act 2022, as amended, the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC), notifies critical Stakeholders of the mandatory issuance of 360 days notice of elections into the offices of Chairmen and Councilors in the 27 Local Government Areas of Imo State preceding the 2026 proposed Local Government Council Elections.

Therefore, all registered political parties are hereby requested to take note as further details will be made available in due course.”
