The University of Calabar Branch of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) over the weekend honoured the National Treasurer of SSANU, Comrade Sir Uchenna Nwokeji KSJI CNA with a Merit Award in recognition of his exceptional and result-oriented leadership.
The event which took place at the University Auditorium was attended by the who is who in the university community.
Among those present at the event were the National Deputy President Dr. Leku Ador, National Vice President South South of SSANU Dr Cheta Azuma, the representative of the Vice Chancellor and others who expressed happiness over Comrade Nwokeji’s emergence as the National Treasurer of the Union, in view of his antecedents and performance at the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) and other places where he has served the Union.
Speaking after receiving the Award, Comrade Nwokeji, who is also the President of Owerri Sports Club commended the leadership of SSANU for finding him worthy of such recognition.
He also assured that the honour will motivate him to do more.
