At last: Willy Amadi makes peace with Chinasa Nwaneri

By Ikenna Orioha

It was a healthy and cheerful moment for the APC family in Imo State as two active and prominent political figures, Barr. Willy Amadi and Nze Chinasa Nwaneri, settled their age-long squabbles, which allegedly arose from the political reappointment of Nze Chinasa Nwaneri as Special Adviser to the Governor on Monitoring and Compliance by the Governor who earlier fired him on alleged grounds of misconduct.

According to reports making round in some quarters within the state, the reconciliation of the two political titans took positive shape given to the intervention of the Executive Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, who the APC and some politicians see as a good party man.

A footage of a viral video circulating on Facebook and other social media handles shown Nwaneri and Amadi in a warmth embrace, ululating reconciliation emotions of excitement and joy, with some APC chieftains applauding the momentous vibes and development.

The duo’s reconciliation had brought some relief in the APC circle against the 2027 general elections despite Willy Amadi’s earlier public announcement of retirement from active partisan politics that may take effect in November 2027.

Willy Amadi was a known politician and a lawyer. He actively worked with Chief Ikedi Ohakim’s administration as General Manager of Imo State Environmental Transformation Commission (ENTRACO), Commissioner, Public Compliant Commission and as Chief Technical Adviser on Environment to Governor Hope Uzodimma.

In March 2023, Willy Amadi was expelled from the APC over alleged anti-party activities. This expulsion raised a lot of dust and divided loyalty in the APC fold.

His quarrel with Chinasa Nwaneri was said to have emanated from a media publication (“The Return of Bruce Lee”) he made against Chinasa Nwaneri following his reappointment by Governor Hope Uzodimma who saw it as libelous and derogatory.

Since his reappointment as SA on Monitoring and Compliance, Chinasa Nwaneri has shown leadership capacity, political will and resilience as he dismantled some hideouts of criminals where dangerous weapons were discovered and destroyed, demolished some illegal structures or shanties, recovered public property, as well as maintains safety, decongestion, neatness in some parts of Owerri metropolis.
