-Project Mean’t To Serve Less Privileged, Communities In Orlu Zone

There was pandermonium in Orlu yesterday as bulldozers mobilized by the Imo State government demolished the proposed Health Center being constructed by the Orlu Regional Assembly,ORA-USA.

ORA-USA is  the umbrella body of Orlu zone indigenes in the United State of America.

A source that pleaded anonymity told this medium that the Chairman of Orlu Local Government Area, Pastor Chris Mbarie witnessed the demolition of the Multi-million Naira project health center.

The health center, going by the projections of the Union is expected to be operational before end of next year. The source added that one of the factors that delayed and frustrated the completion of the project was the insecurity in the area.

Speaking with one of the Leaders of Orlu Regional Assembly,ORA-USA  who pleaded anoymity on phone,he said,on the morning of May 13, 2025, ORAUSA experienced a devastating setback as our flagship community development project in Orlu—an Out-Patient Medical Center and Multi-Purpose Building Complex—was abruptly demolished.

“The demolition was carried out by individuals who claimed to be acting on behalf of the Imo State Government. Shockingly, these individuals presented no official documentation or justification for their actions, leaving our organization and the Orlu community in a state of confusion and despair.

“This project was a beacon of hope, designed to serve the less privileged and underserved communities in Orlu. Its sudden destruction not only undermines our efforts but also raises significant concerns about due process and the protection of community-driven initiatives.

Effort to reach Prof. Uzo Unegbu, MD, MBA,ORAUSA National President for comment on the sad development was unsuccessful.
