The Imo State Commissioner for Education, Prof Ikegwuoha on Tuesday, May, 16, 2025, commissioner well equipped computer laboratory and a library at Ikenegbu Girls Secondary, School Owerri.

The renowned academic also commissioned an Electronic Laboratory and a 10-room toilet facility at the Government Technical College, Owerri before proceeding to City Secondary School, also in Owerri Municipal Council where he commissioned a renovated 9 -classroom block. All the projects  commissioned in the aforementioned schools were provided by Alaigbo Unite Cares, a non governmental organization based in Enugu.

Speaking at the different schools Prof Ikegwuoha, commended the group for  keying into the vision of the current administration in the state which is to transform all sectors of the economy including education, health, agriculture, youth empowerment, among others.

 He assured them that the state government will provide enabling environment and other necessary wherewithal if consulted. 

According to him, ^the state government in its people-oriented approach to issues is willing to engage in Public Private Partnership arrangement by providing counter part funding to fast track such projects. The future of the our state and country has much to do with the success of these students. Hence, the need for all hands to be on deck towards investing in the education sector. I am therefore commissioning these facilities today, on behalf of the  Governor of Imo State, Dist. Senator Hope Uzodinma who we all know is passionately committed to the welfare of Imo people. He attaches premium to the education sector just like other areas that have direct impact on our children and wards who are the leaders of tomorrow.^

He encouraged the students to take their studies seriously bearing in mind that education is the key that unlocks the potential for greatness, fulfillment and stability in life . The Commissioner also encouraged the girls be purposeful and avoid being limited by societal barriers. He tasked the principals to ensure adequate security for the facilities.

The Principal of Ikenegbu Girls Secondary School, Mrs Obiageri Nnaemeka Agu expressed gratitude to Alaigbo Unite itCares for making her school a beneficiary of their magnanimity. She also thanked the Commissioner for Education Prof Ikegwuoha and the Executive Secretary, Secondary Education Management Board, Dame Tina Azibuike for their approval and efforts in attracting the facilities to their respective schools. They also promised to ensure that they are put to good use for optimal benefits. 

Speaking in the same vein, the highly elated Principals of City Secondary School, Mrs Chinasa Ikwumezie and Rev Basil Njoku respectively, also thanked Alaigbo Unite Cares for finding their school worthy of such benevolent gesture. They also poured encomium on the state governor Dist. Senator Hope Uzodinma, the Commissioner for Education, Prof Ikegwuoha, the Executive Secretary, Secondary Education Management Board SEMB, Mrs Tina Azubuike for their contributions to the development of he Education sector.
