-Says: Journalism, Bedrock Of Society
A former commissioner in Imo State, Dr Fabian Ihekweme has donated the sum of N500,000 to support the workstation project embarked upon by the Comrade Precious Nwadike-led Imo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ.
Ihekweme, who expressed absolute confidence in the Precious Nwadike led Imo NUJ described the press as bedrock of the society’
It is on record that Dr Fabian Ihekweme has been a frontline advocate of transparency, accountability and good governance, which has earned him commendation and applause from Nigerians and Imolites in particular who hold him in high esteem despite his travails occasioned by his courage, boldness and audacity to speak truth to power irrespective of whose ox is gored.
Imo NUJ recently launched its workstation project designed to facilitate and enhance the activities of media practitioners as well as journalism practice in the state.
Recall that a Diaspora group had earlier donated 10 units of computer systems to Nigeria Union of Journalists, Imo State Council for it’s workstation.
The workstation is expected to generate income for the union in addition to serving as a facility for IT training among others.
