Supporters of the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, known as the Obedient Movement in Orlu zone, have vowed to resist attempts by any person or group, including desperate politicians to hijack activities of the newly formed Advanced Democratic Congress (ADC) Coalition in the area.
The group stated this in a press statement signed by the Orlu Zonal Coordinator, Chief Odinaka C.A. Emejuru and made available to the press.
The Orlu Zonal Obedient Movement expressed delight over what it described as the rekindled hope the recent unveiling of the ADC has elicited as the umbrella body of a Coalition of eminent political heavy weights who are poised to change the narratives of political engagement and its outcome in the country, come 2027.
According to Emenalo, the flurry of events and activities in the country’s political landscape since the emergence of the Coalition and the rattling effects it has had on the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and the presidency attest to the emergence of a vibrant and effective opposition party that Nigerians have always yearned for to checkmate the incompetence, excesses, arrogance and profligacy of the Tinubu-led APC administration.
“We have taken note of the fact that the major reason Nigerians are happy and excited about the emergence of the ADC Coalition is the presence and participation of our Principal, H.E Mr Peter Obi in all the deliberations, the unveiling of the Coalition and the adoption of the ADC, the Obedient Movement in Orlu Zone therefore wishes to use this medium to congratulate and commit our unalloyed support to our Principal, Mr. Peter Obi and his team of eminent national political players for adopting the ADC, even as we believe that it might be the ultimate vehicle through which our grand vision of a New Nigeria, with Obi as our unshakeable Moral Compass, would be realized in no distant time.
We however view with dismay and deep consternation, the desperate machinations of some Imo politicians to hijack the ADC structure in Orlu Zone, and in Imo State in general.
Leaders of the Obedient Movement in Orlu Zone hereby caution such politicians to desist from such acts that are capable of derailing the noble objectives of the coalition and adoption of the ADC as the party of the masses for the 2027 general elections.
The Obedient family welcomed the recent collapse of H.E. Chief Emeka Ihedioha’s Rebuidl-Imo political structure into the coalition. We encourage other personal political structures and progressive political parties to follow suite. But reports of converting the former Rebuild-Imo structure to the automatic leadership status of the coalition party, the ADC, will be tantamount to hijacking the coalition and will be resisted ferociously. We hereby caution members of the Obedient Movement in Orlu Zone and other well-meaning Imolites to be wary of the manipulative antics of such politicians who may be secretly scheming against the emergence of H.E. Mr. Peter Obi as the ADC flag bearer for the 2027 presidential election”.
