Despite the outcry and agony experienced by victims and relatives of the Umualoma and Arondizuogu massacre that attracted local and international attention, the governor of Imo State, the member, representing Ideato North State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly and the Chairman, Ideato North Local Government Area are yet to visit the victims to feel their pulse, comfort and encourage them.
Some indigenes of the area who expressed disappointment over such level of insensitivity which according to them is akin to inhumanity wondered why government officials who were elected to oversee the interest and welfare of the people should callously be so aloof and insensitive to their plight in the moment of grief.
“We are highly surprised and disappointed that the Governor who, under normal circumstances should query our representative in the House of Assembly and the Chairman of Ideato North Local Government Area for not coming to see and commiserate with the victims has uptill now not visited any of the victims. That denies him the moral right to question any person, Besides, if this incident had happened in any of the Hausa communities in the state, he would have been among the first people to go and commiserate with them because he, for obvious reasons believes that he is indebted to them for the position he occupies today”.
On the contrary,the member representing Ideato North/Ideato South Federal Constituency, Hon Ikenga Ugochinyere, who stays in Abuja made time to come and see the victims within 48 hours while those who stay at Ideato and Owerri respectively are yet to come and see them. What a shame
That is why Ikenga Ugochinyere remains the man to beat in any election irrespective of the political party he belongs. How can the Governor of a state where such calamity happened be so insensitive to the plight of the victims and their relatives.? It means that he and the other purported representatives of the people are self serving impostors who are only interested in their welfare and that of their families and close relatives. Thank God we are approaching another election cycle when they will be rewarded accordingly. They have fooled us enough”.
