-Warns On The Consequences

Orlu Youths, operating under the auspices of Orlu Youth Development Union, had vehemently rejected the ceding of TESAC premises to the Church, by the Imo State Government, neglecting the people’s clamour for development in the area.

The youth rather demanded that the said land which they pointed out were earlier given to government to build a branch of Imo Poly, should be given back to the original owners or used to build factories or federal institutions that will be of immense benefit to the people.

This rejection by the youth was contained in a release signed by the Secretary and Vice Secretary of Orlu Youth Development Union,  Okoroike Chigoziri Kenneth and Ekene Agunenye and released to the media in Owerri, on Saturday.

The youth said they were bitter of how Governor Hope Uzodimma allegedly removed Imo Poly from Orlu to his community, Omuma, Oru East LGA headquarters and ceded the land to Orlu catholic Diocese, describing the anomaly as political shenanigan, targeted at getting favor from the church.

According to the youth, “we, the Orlu Youth Development Union, are aware of disturbing reports that certain unscrupulous individuals within our community are being approached with bribes to testify falsely in the ongoing court case concerning the ownership of the TESAC premises.

“These actions aim to undermine our legitimate claim and compromise the integrity of the judicial process.

“Our people’s decision to pursue legal action stems from the fact that the land in question was originally donated to the government for the specific purpose of establishing a tertiary institution. However, since the government has indicated that it no longer intends to utilize the land for this purpose, we firmly believe that the land should revert to its original owners, the villages involved and by extension, Orlu community.

“It is unacceptable for the government to repurpose the land for other uses or transfer it to entities that are not the rightful owners. Such actions disregard the original agreement and the good intentions of our people for which the land was donated.

“We stand united in our resolve to reclaim our ancestral land and protect the rights and heritage of the Orlu people. We call upon all members of our community to remain vigilant and resist any attempt to sow discord or manipulate the truth.

“Our pursuit of justice continues and we trust that the court will recognize the legitimacy of our claim and restore the TESAC premises to its rightful owners”.
