In a remarkable demonstration of unity, diplomacy, and commitment to peace, the apex socio-political group of Orlu Zone, Orluzurumee, paid a historic courtesy visit to the Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, penultimate Wednesday.
Led by its President General, Rt. Hon. Ugochukwu Nzekwe, a delegation of the executive committee of Orluzurumee arrived at the State Police Command Headquarters in Owerri with a clear mission: to strengthen collaboration with law enforcement in safeguarding peace, security, and development in the Orlu Zone.
In his address, Hon. Nzekwe expressed deep appreciation to the Commissioner for approving the visit. He commended the Nigeria Police for their tireless efforts in combating crime across the state, particularly in Orlu Zone, and conveyed the gratitude of Orluzurumee for their dedication—affirming the group’s full support for the security agencies.
The President highlighted Orluzurumee’s core mandate as a socio-cultural organization committed to,Promoting peace and unity across Imo State and beyond,Supporting government efforts by empowering youths to reduce restiveness, and,fostering community development through cultural and social initiatives.
He also briefed the CP on the upcoming Security Command and Control Initiative being planned by Orluzurumee members in the diaspora. The initiative aims to complement the efforts of the police and other security agencies in addressing insecurity in the region.
In conclusion, Hon. Nzekwe drew attention to the forthcoming Orluzurumee Unity Cultural Festival, scheduled for December 2025, which will showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Orlu people and further reinforce peace and unity in the state.
In his response, CP Aboki Danjuma, visibly impressed by the group’s organized approach, warmly welcomed the delegation and praised Orluzurumee for its decades-long role in promoting stability in Imo State. He emphasized the critical importance of community engagement in addressing security challenges and urged traditional and socio-political organizations to remain strong partners in intelligence gathering and grassroots mobilization.
The CP expressed gratitude for Orluzurumee’s solidarity and support, recalling fondly his earlier years of service in Orlu as a young officer. He described the people as peace-loving, industrious, and deeply committed to unity.
Reaffirming the Command’s commitment to restoring and sustaining peace across Imo State, CP Danjuma acknowledged the immense support of the Governor of Imo State—himself an indigene of Orlu—to the Police Command. He emphasized the command’s continued focus on professionalism and proactive policing, describing the visit as a “historic gesture” and a “timely, highly strategic” move that reflects the true spirit of Orlu’s cultural and civic heritage.
The visit was facilitated by the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Okoye, who coordinated the protocols for the event. It was well attended by executive members of Orluzurumee.
