To sustain calmness, peace, security, advance development, as well as improve good living in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State, the Executive Chairman of the Council, Hon. Marcel Amadioha, has called on the people of the area, especially the stakeholders, to continue to tolerate one another while working in unity and cordiality.
Amadioha made the call while having audience with the Association of Ohaji/Egbema Practicing Journalists in Owerri on Monday.
He said for the locality to enhance orderliness, peace, security and development, all hands must be on deck, encouraging the political, religious and traditional leaders of the area to set aside any antagonism, bickering, rancor or averice.
Amadioha mentioned that Ohaji/Egbema is the most peaceful, orderly, beautiful, fertile and productive local government in Imo State, stating that the people are always law-abiding, peaceful, loving, godly and accommodating.
Hailing the youth of Ohaji/Egbema for being productive, good, resourceful, supportive and assertive, Amadioha appealed to them to always embrace love, tolerance, dialogue to amecably resolve any issue, instead of resorting to violence, which he said does not produce good fruit.
The Chairman appealed to the state government to build more infrastructure in Ohaji/Egbema to propel the people to engage in meaningful activities, just as he urged oil companies operating in the area to start implementing the MOU, GMOU or PIA to avoid restiveness by their host communities.
“We must come together, device means to solve our issues. We call on our community leaders to be up and doing. All hands must be on deck, no body can over run Ohaji/Egbema because we have the culture of peace and security. Dialogue is the best approach to solve any issue relating to underdevelopment.
“We should always preach peace, love, unity, prosperity and progress in the area. I advise our people to open their palms and embrace the oil conglomerates and allow them to develop their host communities.
“God blessed Ohaji/Egbema with human and material resources. Development is happening in the area gradually.The people, especially those in Awarra Court Area, are making progress. This is very healthy.
“The oil companies have started doing well and they need to be supported to intensify development. Investors are encouraged to continue to come into Ohaji/Egbema and invest to enjoy peace, love and hospitality which are very relative in the area. In fact, Ohaji/Egbema is the most peaceful and orderly local government in Imo State”, Amadioha maintained.
Earlier, the Chairman of Association of Ohaji/Egbema Practicing Journalists, Comrade Oloko Reginald, defined the Executive Chairman of the Council as a pragmatic politician and charismatic leader who he commended for redefining governance at the locality.
