By Ikenna Orioha
One of the outstanding, efficient, dutiful and kind politicians in Imo State and the Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Willie TC Okolieogwo, says Hope Uzodimma is always interested in the empowerment of youths through quality training with a view to making them more productive, thereby advancing economic prosperity, good living and joy.
Okolieogwo reflected that the Skill-Up Imo program through which over five thousand Imo youths were trained on Digital Skills (ICT), among numerous other programs and equipped with items, are proofs of the Governor’s human capital development policy for the youth.
He disclosed this while making a speech during the Flagg – Off of the Second Phase of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative (RHEI 2 ), held at the Federal Secretariat, Owerri, on Thursday.
Okolieogwo who was the Special Guest of Honour, as well as the representative of the Governor at the event, stressed that the state government is really committed to ensure that the people are encouraged to enhance productivity to improve good living.
Okolieogwo who was the immediate past Chairman of Oru West Local Government and the State Chairman of ALGON, hinted that the successful participants will be trained on Vocation, Agriculture, Entrepreneurial, ICT and Activities in the Public Work Sector under the second phase.
Hailing the trainees for being orderly and well organized, Okolieogwo charged them to prove themselves more by being dutiful, diligent, honest and respectful, reiterating that the Governor will be very happy seeing them succeed and being useful to themselves and to the society at large.
“I’m sure that wherever they are deployed they will represent the state very well and make the government proud and of course that is another means of encouraging him to do more because people say when you praise somebody who did well he will continue to do well.
“They are going to be deployed to various establishments of both state and federal governments. Governor Hope Uzodimma is very much interested to train and empower youths meaningfully. So, I advise you to remain peaceful and dutifully transparent to succeed”, the SA stressed.
While harping that the program is geared to empower youths to be able to assuage poverty, Director General of NDE, Salas Ali Agara, who was represented by the State Coordinator of NDE, Lady Nonye Ohanwe, noted that 41 persons will be trained on over 30 different skills ranging from Vocation, Agriculture Entrepreneurial, ICT, among others.
With the Director of Labor and Employment, Dr Luke Nwanekwe Ijezie, advising youths to always take part in government activities, as well as indulge into agriculture and trading to progress.
However, the trainees, through Peter Udo, from Oru West LGA, promised that they will focus on the training to gain more skills that would propel them to productivity and economic prosperity, thanking government for the initiative.
