-Predicts Landslide Victor For APC in 2027
The Executive Chairman of Onuimo Local Government Area in Imo State, Hon. Dr. Emeka Obi, has intensified efforts to mobilize residents for the ongoing voter registration and revalidation exercise. As part of this initiative, he has taken the awareness campaign to various communities within the council area.
Speaking to journalists via a phone call on Wednesday, Obi expressed satisfaction with the high turnout of eligible voters in Onuimo, describing it as a sign of political consciousness among the people.
“We have moved past the era when our people ignored their civic responsibilities. The people of Onuimo are now highly aware and committed to this exercise, and I am truly impressed by the turnout,” he said.
Obi revealed that a stakeholder retreat was previously held, which included councillors, traditional rulers, youth leaders, women leaders, and members of the clergy. During the retreat, an awareness campaign was launched to sensitize the public about the importance of voter registration.
“I’m currently in the village monitoring the process to ensure everything goes smoothly. INEC officials are doing a great job—there have been no issues so far. My people are responding positively,” he added.
Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Dr. Obi predicted a landslide victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that the party enjoys overwhelming support in Onuimo and beyond.
“Onuimo is APC territory. We will secure victories across all levels—from House of Assembly to the Presidency. The APC has demonstrated capacity, particularly in empowering the informal sector. Artisans are now more optimistic because of the President’s policies. Our economy is stabilizing,” he stated.
He referenced comments by the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who he claimed affirmed that Nigeria’s economic indicators are improving.
“Things may seem difficult now, but that’s because the President is working hard to fix the damage done by past administrations. This government is rebuilding from the ground up,” Dr. Obi said, urging Nigerians to remain confident in the APC-led administration.
The Chairman also highlighted the cordial relationship he enjoys with his constituents, attributing his achievements in office to their support and cooperation.
“I run an all-inclusive government. Within one year in office, we’ve achieved a lot—thanks to the unwavering support of the people. I align closely with the policies of the 3R administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma, who is known as the ‘Infrastructural Governor’ for good reason,” he concluded.
