-Receives Newly Elected Exco Of Orluzurumee Youth Assembly
The President General of Orluzurumee Sociocultural Organization and former lawmaker for Nkwerre State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Ugochukwu Nzekwe, has said that his administration is focusing on youth empowerment as a sustainable way to tackle crime and insecurity in Orlu Zone.
Speaking when he received leaders of the Orluzurumee Youth Assembly (OYA) in his office at Akwakuma, Owerri North LGA, on Friday, Nzekwe attributed the rising insecurity in the area to poverty, marginalization and neglect. He maintained that the organization’s leadership is determined to change the narrative by empowering youths through education, skills acquisition and entrepreneurship.
In his own words, “Orluzurumee is seriously focusing on empowering the youths of Orlu Zone by engaging them in meaningful activities and vocations such as artisanship, technology, trading and tailoring. This will not only reduce crime and violence but also promote peace and development.”
The President General called on political office holders, appointees, and wealthy individuals from Orlu Zone to support youth-oriented initiatives, stressing that economic empowerment remains the most effective tool against insecurity.
“When our youths are meaningfully engaged, they will have no reason to take to crime. Empowering them will guarantee lasting peace and prosperity in our communities,” he added.
Nzekwe also charged the OYA leadership to remain united and focused in promoting the interests of Orlu youths, describing them as vital to peacebuilding, unity and community development. He dispelled rumours of division within Orluzurumee, insisting that the organization remains one strong, united body.
In her remarks, the Woman Leader of Orluzurumee and former Imo lawmaker, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Obiefule, congratulated the newly elected OYA executives for conducting a peaceful and transparent election. She, alongside Cos-Ukwuoma Nnamdi, Dr. Chris Ekwueme, Chief Maduwuike Emmanuel and Comr. Emejuru Thaddeus, the immediate past OYA President urged the youth body to extend the message of Orluzurumee to the grassroots across all 12 Local Government Areas of the zone.
Responding, the OYA President, Prince Izunna Obiefule and Secretary General, Nze Dim Chibuike expressed gratitude for the warm reception and pledged not to disappoint the organization and the people of Orlu Zone.
“We are determined to make the youths of Orlu proud. We appeal to our fellow young people to shun crime, embrace hard work, excellence and godliness for a better future,” Obiefule said.
The meeting reinforced Orluzurumee’s mission as a socio-cultural platform committed to promoting unity, peace, the overall development and collective interests of Orlu Zone.
