In a gesture of admiration and loyalty, members of the Association of Imo APC 2024 Councillorship Aspirants (2024 Cluster) last week visited the office of Hon. Willie T. C. Okolieogwo, Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, at the State Secretariat in Owerri to celebrate his exceptional leadership and mentorship.
The aspirants also praised Uzodimma for his support for grassroots politicians, describing the administration’s inclusive approach as a source of inspiration for aspiring leaders across the state.
Representing all 27 local government areas of Imo State, the aspirants described Okolieogwo’s guidance as instrumental in fostering unity and strengthening the APC at the grassroots level.
Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of the association, Hon. Cajetan Dike, commended Okolieogwo for his selfless service and dedication to empowering young politicians.
He lauded Governor Uzodimma for shouldering the cost of councilorship forms and expressions of interest for aspirants, calling it a historic gesture in the state’s political landscape.
Hon. Dike appealed to the government to continue engaging aspirants meaningfully in its programmes and appointments, assuring that the group remains loyal and committed to advancing the vision of the Shared Prosperity government.
Emphasizing that they are fully prepared to follow the governor’s directives ahead of the 2027 elections, he revealed that the aspirants are planning a solidarity rally to showcase the governor’s achievements across the state.
Similarly, the Owerri Zonal Coordinator of the group, Hon. Ogbuehi Onyedikachi Angel, praised the governor’s people-centered approach to governance and saluted Okolieogwo for his openness, guidance, and leadership prowess.
Responding, Okolieogwo commended the aspirants for their loyalty and faith in the administration, urging them to remain steadfast in their commitment to the party, reminding them that diligent work is always rewarded.
“Keep clean hands and a pure heart to attract good things. Continue representing the APC well in your local government areas, and in due time, you will be recognized and compensated,” he said.
He further emphasized that councillors form the foundation of the party at the grassroots, and, drawing from his experience as the former Chairman of Imo ALGON, Okolieogwo charged the aspirants to remain loyal and diligent, noting that “somebody somewhere is always watching your act.”
