It was a galore of joy and celebration in Uzoagba Ancient Kingdom in Ikeduru local government area of Imo State as the people reaffirmed Crown Prince Dr. Collins Tochukwu Dabrinze as their Eze.

Speaking shortly after making Crown Prince Collins Tochukwu their Traditional Ruler, Chairman, Uzoagba Traditional Council of Ndi Nze, Ezinna Nze Titus Anozie (oldest Nze in Uzoagba Ofor Asato) and an old palace member, David Onyemesi, noted that custom of the land demands that the heir apparent to the Traditional Stool becomes an Eze when the Eze dies, hence the people unanimously and traditionally reaffirmed him an Eze and Duruaku IV of Uzoagba Ancient Kingdom.

Expressing delight, the Eze-elect, HRM, Dr. Collins Tochukwu Dabrinze (Duruaku IV Ancient Kingdom), said that his people made him Eze-elect in accordance to the custom of their land, a journey he noted started in 2010.

“The Ezumezu Uzoagba came here today in consideration of and also in recognition of the hereditariness of the Ezeship Stool in Uzoagba. They made me Eze-elect (Duruaku IV of Uzoagba Ancient Kingdom).

“Ezeship has always remained in Dabrinze Ancient Dynasty. From the history of Uzoagba, the first Eze that reigned came out from Dabrinze family who happened to be the originator. He was succeeded by his son and the second Eze was succeeded by his son who happened to be my father.

“So, after the death of my father, I came out to take my mandate as the Crown Prince, but there was a little shift and I am here now to reclaim my position as the Eze of Uzoagba Ancient Kingdom.

“Now that I have been culturally confirmed as the Eze-elect of Uzoagba, I will then undergo the statutory requirements as set by the Imo State Government. I will present myself to the Government for Staff of Office and for Government’s recognition to further authenticate the position statutorily, but it has been customarily settled”, the Eze-elect maintained.

The Eze-elect who promised to work with the people to consolidate peace and development in the community, thanked the people for sticking to the custom of their land particularly as it affects Traditional Stool.

He said he cannot afford to disappoint the people nor government while he reigns in the Kingdom.
