Stop Misinforming Imo People, Group warns Ihezuo

— Describes Him as peddler of falsehood

A pro-democracy group known as Imolites for Good Governance (IFGG) has taken the member representing Orlu State Constituency, Hon. Ikenna Ihezuo, to task over his recent outburst in which he alleged that the Imo State Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Amara Iwuanyanwu, is plotting to suspend him over an issue they had in the House.

The National President of the group, Comrade Theo Nwadialu, in a release made available to this reporter in Owerri yesterday, described Ihezuo as a man with a history of lies, noting that he has become notorious for such behavior.

He stated that the composition of the committee set up to investigate the Deputy Speaker’s petition is already in the public domain, describing it as highly mischievous for Ihezuo to allege that the Deputy Speaker wants to suspend him without due process.

He added that the House has internal mechanisms for resolving conflicts and accused Ihezuo of jumping the gun by going to the press with what he described as falsehoods.

“It is also worthy of note that Ihezuo was present during the sitting when the petition was submitted and only walked out after it had been presented,” the group stated.

The group further accused Ihezuo of deliberately heating up the polity.

IFGG also alleged that Ihezuo is currently at loggerheads with his kinsmen in Ezeachi Community, a situation which reportedly led to some of his kinsmen being sent to the Imo State Correctional Centre.

“Despite the glaring evidence that Ihezuo sent some of his kinsmen to prison, he still denies it,” Nwadialu stated.

The group explained that, contrary to Ihezuo’s claims, the Deputy Speaker is not the Chairman of the Ethics and Privileges Committee. According to them, the Majority Leader, Hon. Onyemaechi, is the chairman of the committee. They wondered why Ihezuo is afraid to appear before the committee to clear himself of the allegations against him.

On the issue of the Deputy Speaker’s petition to the House, the group commended him for being civil in his approach despite what they described as Ihezuo’s unruly behavior, adding that not many people would tolerate such excesses
