The youth of Orlu Autonomous Community in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State have dismissed claims by some individuals that Comrade Okorie Chigoziri Kenneth attended a meeting at the Igwe’s palace on behalf of the entire Orlu community youth, describing such claims as falsehoods peddled to gain cheap publicity.

The youth stated that Okorie Chigoziri Kenneth attended the meeting in his personal capacity and as the Secretary of Umuokwara Village, not as a representative of the Orlu community youth.

This clarification was contained in a communiqué signed by Comrade Odogwu Chijioke, Youth President, and Comrade Okorie Chigoziri Kenneth, Youth Secretary, which was made available to the media on Thursday.

The communiqué was copied to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma; the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice; the Commissioner of Police; the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; the Chairman of Orlu Local Government Area; the DPO, Area Command, Orlu; HRH, the Igwe of Orlu; the Eze-in-Council, Orlu Community; Orluzurumee Worldwide; and all villages and branches of OTDU (Orlu Town Development Union).

“The attention of the Orlu Youth has been drawn to a communiqué circulating on the Orlu General Platform, which alleged that the youth were part of a meeting held at the palace. For the purpose of clarity, accuracy, and proper record, we wish to state that the Orlu youth, as a recognized body, were not invited, not represented, and did not participate in the said palace meeting.

“It is important to clearly state that the individual, Comrade Okorie Chigoziri Kenneth, who was present at the meeting, attended strictly in his capacity as the Secretary of Umuokwara Village and not as a representative of Orlu youths.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the invitation letter issued for the meeting did not include Orlu youths as part of the invited stakeholders, as there was no provision recognizing them in the list of invitees.

“Consequently, any participation by Comrade Okorie Chigoziri Kenneth at the meeting was solely in his role as Umuokwara Village Secretary, a position he legitimately holds.

“In view of the above, we respectfully urge the general public and members of the Orlu community to disregard any claim or impression suggesting that the Orlu youth were part of, or represented at, the said meeting.

“This clarification is issued to set the record straight and to prevent any form of misrepresentation now or in the future,” the youth stated.
