…Accuse Imo Education Commissioner, Ikegwuoha, of Anti-Orlu Agenda
The National Coordinator of Orluzurumee Women, Rt. Hon. Ngozi Obiefule, a former two time member of the Imo State House of Assembly representing Isu State Constituency, has strongly condemned what she described as the unwarranted and unilateral removal of their colleagues as principals in the Imo State school system by the Commissioner for Education, Prof. B.T.O. Ikegwuoha.
Obiefule, who spoke to reporters in Owerri, the Imo State capital, yesterday, described the development as unfortunate.
She expressed concern that the Commissioner, who hails from Orlu zone, would embark on what she termed a vendetta mission, alleging it reflects an anti-Orlu agenda capable of undermining the governor and his party ahead of the next election cycle.“It is questionable and very worrisome that, not long after the Executive Secretary of the Secondary Education Management Board (SEMB), Dame Tina Azubuike, was removed from office shortly after she expressed concerns over the Commissioner’s consistent interference in her duties without regard to laid-down rules and guidelines, seven Orlu zone women and one man have now been removed from their positions as principals,” she said.
Those reportedly affected include Mrs. Obiageli Nnaemeka-Agu (Ikenegbu Girls Secondary School, Owerri), Ukeoma Nneoma (Urban Development Secondary School, World Bank, Owerri), Njepuome Ihuoma (Amakohia Comprehensive Secondary School), Eze Augustina (Amakohia Girls Secondary School), Ikwumezie A.C.N. (City Secondary School), Nwosu Jecintha (Development Secondary School, Douglas Road, Owerri), Akwari Patricia (Development Secondary School, Douglas, Owerri), and Emeka Ezike (Government College, Owerri).
She urged the affected individuals to remain calm and law-abiding, noting that the governor, whom she described as their son, deserves their continued support and encouragement despite the actions of some of his aides and appointees.
Responding to a question, Obiefule stated that she had made several attempts to reach the Commissioner prior to now, but he did not respond to her calls for reasons she could not explain.
