Longers Anyanwu visits Imo APC Executive

  • Expresses Interest in Okigwe senatorial seat

Chief Longers Anyanwu, a former commissioner for Agriculture in Imo State and former Coordinator of the Federal Government Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) was yesterday hosted by the State Executive Committee of the All Progressive Congress (APC) at the party’s State Secretariat in Owerri.

The state chairman of the party, Chief Austin Onyedebelu, while welcoming Anyanwu and his team to the party Secretariat assured him of the determination of the State Working Committee to guarantee a fair playing ground for all contestants on the party’s platform. He described Anyanwu as an experienced politician and commended him for his long-standing loyalty and dedication to the Party and our leader, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON. 

The State Chairman also welcomed a former member of the Imo State House of Assembly and gubernatorial candidate, Chief Ike C. Ibez, to the party, describing him as an asset to the All Progressives Congress, while assuring him of the party’s commitment to democratic and progressive ideals.

Speaking earlier, the party’s Zonal Vice-chairman for Okigwe zone, Chief Dan Chike Ogu, expressed his delight at the visit and reminisced on Chief Anyanwu”s trajectory of service and support to Okigwe zone, Imo State and the nation at large. He expressed confidence that Anyanwu would not “run away with the mandate of the party” and the support of the people when he gets it.

While declaring his interest in running for the senatorial election on our Party’s platform, the University of Calabar alumnus and renowned Safety Professional, traced his history of service to as far back as 1999, referencing his consistent friendship and productive partnership with His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, which he described as highly beneficial to him. He credited the governor for contributing immensely to molding him into the leader he is and assured that he will make Okigwe zone proud if he is elected as the next Senator on our party’s platform.

“I have come to formally inform the party’s leadership at the State level of my intention to fly the party’s flag for Okigwe Senatorial District in the upcoming general elections. I believe that I have the requisite experience and courage to represent my people well, stand up for our leader, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, when the need arises and provide the required support to our party when I am elected to the Senate.” 

The party encourages all aspirants who wish to fly our party’s flag in the upcoming election to ensure that they align themselves with the established party structures in their various constituencies, and also subscribe fully to the party’s constitution and leadership.”
