– Demands Fairness in 2027 Election

A formidable group in Orlu Zone, under the auspices of the Isu Clan Consultative Forum (ICCF), has strongly condemned the suspension of His Royal Majesty, Eze Thomas Obiefule, the Obiwuru of Umudioka ancient Kingdom as the Orlu zonal Chairma of traditional Rulers.

The suspension was reportedly based on what authorities described as the monarch’s “unlawful recognition” of a governorship aspirant, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

The group made its position known yesterday in Owerri through its National Coordinator, Comrade Stephen Anugwom.

According to the ICCF, the suspension of the monarch and the subsequent appointment of a replacement from Orsu clan of Orlu Local Government area have once again highlighted what it described as the level of bias and marginalization faced by the Isu people.

Speaking on the 2027 elections, Anugwom insisted that, as the largest clan in Imo State, Isu should be considered for the deputy governorship position whenever Orlu Zone relinquishes power to other zones and that of Orlu Senate. He added that the clan has long been sidelined in the political structure of the state.

He said,“In the past, Oru and Orsu occupied both senatorial and governorship positions, along with other key offices, leaving our clan largely insignificant.

“We can no longer tolerate this level of marginalization by our brothers. It is surprising that Eze Obiefule was suspended for recognizing Senator Samuel Anyanwu, whereas others in the past have conferred similar chieftaincy titles without facing such consequences.”

Anugwom further called on members of the Isu clan to actively participate in the 2027 elections by contesting for various political positions. He noted that such a move would place the clan in a stronger and more strategic position in the state’s political landscape.
